sorry about no blog for a while..

well..there just hasn't been time for me to do anything, and not many events..even our Texas reporter hasn't had much for a week or two..I had to make a trip to Newcastle and back last week...just finished a four day 'helping with the grandkids", and so many other things to eat into my time..but..lots of events coming up soon...
Les sent this copy of an old add.....cool!
so..reminder..this coming weekend, the 3 and 4th June is the annual Hot Rod show, so I planned to have my coffee morning on the Sunday, just in case any of our out of town friends want to come down for the coffee on the Sunday morning, then leave to see the show...7am at Victoria Point Lakeside shops..
Then...your choice..go to the show Saturday, or make a day of it on the Sunday..
Free Add, 'cause I'm impressed!!.. talking to some locals lately about their aches and pains..and I have just changed to a new clinic, in our local area, at Redland Bay...and..I am impressed..Dannielle Medhurst is very good..she has been treating my son, and my wife..and I finally took the plunge..very, very good, in my eyes..maybe worth a trip to try out the services..07-3829 2496..tell her I sent you!

so..following week are all the big events..the annual run to Cooloongatta for the COOLY ROCKS On event..just as big as ever, but...

same weekend, but up the North Coast at Caloundra, and the ASRF have their 3rd running of the DOWNUNDER BEACHFEST...very succesful event..I usually manage to go to both of these, a day at each..but as well....

yep..same weekend..the biggest drag meet in Australia, and this year, the 50th Anniversary of the WINTERNATIONALS..I will go to this as well...
back at home, still trying to clean up my workshop, and find out parts I don't really need, and move them on..still have Wallys plates..someone make an offer so I can give the money to Barbara..
sorting out my own parts..i'm sure we all collect way too many parts..
bought 4 flatheads over the last few years..only need one..the rest are going!
I did shout myself a new 4 post hoist a week ago...took me two days to get it assembled, but how good is it..best $3450 I spent in a while..just need a Lotto win to pay for it..lol.
and remember I said I had bought a HR wagon and gave it to my grandson...(he's only 6 )..well, my son Dan wants to get the HR on the hoist so we can start working out what we need to find for the rebuild..let me know if you have ant HR parts available..
I managed to buy a down-on-it's-luck Commodore last week..(see, this is where my time goes..)..get it home and it has a good running 202 and trimatic that will be perfect for the HR..but now, I have to get it in the workshop and strip it out...time just blows away lately...
and so, the poor ol' coupe project gets a back seat to all the other priorities in my life...looks like the finish date won't be Yamba this year....maybe next...

Nostalgia Drag Racing, Grand Prarie, Texas

Les Winter, my resident man about town in Texas phoned me this week, to tell me about the upcoming weekend event...the drags, at the iconic Yello Belly Dragstrip
the venue is an old farmers market..has some covered stands made into bleachers, and a sort of narrow 1/8 mile strip to race on..or you can just bring your ride for the car show..
 lots of variety
 anything goes...
 lickity-split A bone

cool venue..look at the undercover areas to use..

 stout ladder bars..

rat rod Camaro..run what ya brung..
a tribute to the famous "Two Lane Blacktop" car
 gasser style always looks good..
Charlies son Tony has this gasser style Nomad
Les couldn't resist it..rolled up..paid the $$..can't keep an old drag racer down..
see what I mean..what a cool dragstrip this is...old school fun!!
Les got himself into the semis, where he blasted his 425 Olds, rowing that 4 speed muncie to the win..
the old coupe he raced had a flattie in it, so made that Olds work for the win..
so..into the final he goes...up against the 2 Lane Blacktop car, or as I like to refer to it as the "Grey Fridge"
does look kinda narrow from this angle...
dang itchy feet..dumped the clutch and left a cherry on the tree...still..runner up in Hot Rod class wasn't too bad for his first shot of Texas dragracing...the buzz never leaves...what will come next!!
