US trip, comes with tourist sight-seeing...

Lots of old battlefield history around Lexington

Roads are mostly superb, and we ran over the speed limit most of the time..Police once told me they usually give a 15mph leeway to the limit before deciding to grab you for speeding!..we hit 75-80mph and still get passed by the semi-trailers!!
Pigeon Forge TN> is a great place to visit, lots of great tourist trap shops, and I'm told the rod run they have in September is one of the best in all of US!

 One of my favourite eateries..

 fallen over building..

 Upside down house...

Took a trip thru part of the Great Smoky Mountains..

Just a pic of our rental...now a tip for aussies..twice now I have rented from "Happy Tours International", they claim to only rent to overseas clients, the rental car comes from a notable company, this one was from Hertz, Never been a problem, touch wood, no pushy extra insurance etc., maybe try them sometimes, but only problem is they are limited as to where to pick up and drop off..

Dennys restuarants are so so, convenient, as most are near motels..but their are a gazillion choices in US...at least Dennys have a $2/$4/$6 or $8 menu if you just need something basic.
Motel stair steelwork is a bit dodgy as well...

We called in to see ex-pat aussie Pro Stock team of Rob n Janine Tucker...Workaholics trying to break into a sport dominated by millionaires..Good luck to you both..
Laws in US way different to Aus...no one seems to mind about big wheels with big spacers hangin' in the breeze..

slipped past Charlotte Motor Speedway and Z Maz Dragway

As we were stopping to get parts from Dennis Carpenter Reproductions..

This big wheel craze has to stop...ugly!
off on another 7 hours @ 80mph to get from Charlotte NC., to Huntsville, AL.

What we came to see..Marshall Space Centre..
 What!..more food...groan...
 NASA Exhibit time..

mock up of International Space Station..

this was impressive..life size Saturn rocket split to show all it's stages...the one that went to the Moon, 50 years ago!

Read the specs of how much fuel it uses in each of the 5 engines!

work of art...bet these builders make cool hot rod parts in their downtime..
intricate detailed work, and just one tiny piece of a mammoth rocket!

see how big this thing is, and in the very tip, is where the Astronaughts were, with the landing module secreted in behind them..

enclosed in glass for preservation, the actual module that comes back to earth...all else is probably floating around up there somewhere..

Haha..read this....what was NASA thinking when they sold this off!!

Yes, will get back to cars soon....

We left Huntsville in the afternoon, and zipped over to Memphis some my passengers could stop by GRACELAND.....then we headed south....so far, we are 1/2 way in the time, and have been thru Texas/Arkansaw/Tennessee/Kentucky/Indiana/back to Tennessee/North Carolina/South Carolina, and Alabama...
