Blog # 800.....back to some US hot rods...

 so, while i was away in China..lots of hot rod events were going on, so I will try to get this blog back up to current time asap....1st lot of pics here are from the week leading into the Lone Star Roundup.

 A couple of days before, the "Continentals" club hosts a gathering for lunch at the Beyesville Town Hall, just a few miles outside of Austin...and these pics from les Winter show how great the wether was in Texas, and the usual abstract mix of cars gets you revved up for what will be at the LSR...

 changed from grass to ashfalt, so I presume we are now at Aiustin at the LS Roundup..

 how incredible is the aftermarket for nostalgia motors....Flatties will be popular forever

 even bangers are catered for..

 well...that's different..

 lovin' it...just needs its own grille..full fendered cars look better with original style shells..

 recreated kenz n Leslie truck...

 have to admit, 30/31 hiboys look better with deuce grilles

 and 28/29s need their own, no matter if they are full fendered or hiboys..

 above or below...I like 'em both!

 tuff enough!

 see what I mean...grille is too big...much nicer flowing to a stock shell..

 Out of the 1200+ photos and videos I took on this trip, I thought just a sample would be enough for my poor car starved viewers...so keep scrolling thru..I have put the car bits at the 1/2 way mark..

This trip started in Singapore....off on the 10 day cruise...visiting..

 Ho Chi Minh city...Vietnam...and about a gazillion motorbikes....(don't blame global warming on Australia, look at our s.e.asian neighbours...!)

 didn't quite get it, but 4 on a bike.....and, hey, what size is that TV Doug....

 Power and Telephone..."hello..hello..anyone there..ah, Telstra..well, you see...im having trouble with the static on my line..."

 Nha Dang, Vietnam...spending lots of money...probably what Aus gives them......

 Hong Kong...haves n have nots...saw lots of Ferraris, Maseratis, Rolls, mclarens and more...

 Okinawa, Japan....only place the Allies fought Japan on their own land...home of where the recent movie "Hacksaw Ridge" was all about..

 Shangai, China....26 million inhabitants here....1.3 billion in all of China..

 Xian, home of the terracota warriors..

 Beijing, China..Tienaman Square...couldn't do 'google" or "facebook"...they block it in most places

 hungry?.....lots to choose from...

 want to eat some live scorpions...they're wiggling on those sticks....(yuck)

 impressive buildings, that go on and on...you can drive an hour in any direction in bejing, and still be surrounded by skyscrapers...home to another 28 million...

One of the highlights..climbing the great wall...wow..just amazing..

 street regoed go karts in Japan...decked out like Super mario bros.

 closest I got to some hot rod action..

 cops in China have these moveable but stationary buses/command centres in all built up areas....and a cop or private security or army about every 20 feet, it seemed!..Big Brother is watching..

 some trucks were a bit rough, but most were good..

 big roads in the cities, and very very clean....but the buildings go on and on...over 1 million aust. to buy an apartment in the inner city...and you have to install your own kitchen/toilet/shower etc.

least I went over 300 km/h on the bullet train...fast, but it didn't seem like it...
