June 2014 coffee morning..

 Debbie and Garry Moore invited us to their property just near our normal Victoria Point coffee shop....the weather wasn't kind the night before..but as usual, the sun was out making for a perfect winters coffee morning

 usual crowd shuffled in......as the song goes...

 wasn't long before the ground was dry.....lotta rain here last night!

 Think there was 35 cars and about 50...not a bad roll up....but I did wonder how many didn't realize we had moved for this day..and turned up at Vicky Point...

 Lots of coffee, plenty of food, and the usual chin-wag....nice way to start a Sunday morning swaping stories..and the recent LA Roadster Show and Cooly Rocks were the topics!

 Garry showed us the progress on the 55 Ford Courier he purchased back in 2008

 Paul Elms from PE Customs did the paint...now it just needs the SCP trim job....

Here's a pic of when I bought it in Texas in 2007.......notice the recemblance with the paint scheme on the 56 Chev wagon I had also bought.....maybe that's where the idea to two-tone it came from...

So...here's the story of the bucket list trip...Les Winters trip to LARS

Started off when Les bought this small block powered 33 pickup late last year.

 The plan was to "drive a hot rod" to L.A. from Texas...so...had the tranny rebuilt, new rear wheel bearings, general checkover.....but just needed some wheels and height adjustment..

Took it over to Charlie Durans so work could begin

 

New  dropped axle, a wheel change, and it's ready!

 

It went great across the journey....that's 80 showing on the speedo!



 First small problem on the trip came when the newly installed wheel bearing lock ring failed...the shop will certainly have heard from Les by now....it could have been bad if the axle had come out, luckily it didn't, and where they stopped, a guy helped with the repair.....would you believe that this 5w was sittin' in his workshop...he had saved it from a potential life as a speedway jalopy!

 Next drama was at a lunch break stop.....went out to check on the luggage and parts in the bed and found the spare wheel missing.....by chance, when fronting the man parked next to him..the wheel was still sitting in the guys front seat......didn't take long for security to call the police to sort him out....anyway...1600 almost trouble free miles and the trip was done..TX to LA Roadster show....Les only had a week after this before he was due back in Aust., so the smart trip back was with a U-Haul combo, driving almost straight thru to Fort Worth....Good for you, Les...we're all jealous!!

 Now we are at California Shipping, seeing what is on its way overseas

 this coupe sold at the swap for $8500k from memory...on its way to England

 They pack 'em tight!

 This steel 5 w is on its way to Australia..

 In the U.P.I. showroom...they build the new 5w coupes.

 The sedan is off to Ausralia...not sure who was lucky enough to score the 5 w coupe.

 Hope it is on its way to Australia.
