New roadster in the Redlands..

Here's the rest of the build-up pics from Wally Rudkens new roadster..some neat ideas have been utilized in this buildup.
I've always liked this style of centre crossmember
Detail in the trunk!! this is a clever use of the unused space.
Like the little roll pan style ends to finish off the rear of the body
How neat are these seat frames...I need to take some notes ....this is great work.
Lots of work on the interior in a small space...always hard to get everything in and accessible
nice panel to the rh side
and check the left, with a heater, footrest, dipper, and few extra swithes.
nice trim piece to finish the handbrake/shifter area.
can't wait to see this finished...will (probably) be mile deep black paint.

Well, I did manage to get some work done this week..

Forgot to mention, after the coffee run, I had to go pick up Nitas mum...we moved Clare into an aged care facility a few weeks ago....she (and the staff) were wrapped to see her get picked up in a hot rod....gotta look after the oldies!!
So, as you know, the 32 is back home ready for re-assembly, and trying to find the correct bolts, the hidey hole I put things, and the removal of paint to make bits fit, well, it's fun times ahead...I love this part of the build...added some Dynamat to keep out heat and noise, even though the floor/firewall is double paneled..it all helps.
Took a while to get the cowl vent working and sealing, but it seems ok, and no to tackle the spaghetti....wiring needs to be tidied a little....no, maybe a lot!
I have always like using these electric swithes for the brake lights, relatively easy to mount, inexpensive, and they don't quit like the hydraulic ones.
Now you can see why the big recess to accept the Accel HEI distributor.
out of focus...but windscreen on, gauges in deck lid fitted etc.
Now to tackle the cycle fenders...wish we could run without them!
Even mounted the dummy fuel hoses to the tank, complete with look a like fuel in the lines!  headlights back on...it's getting close.

another catch up blog.....shoulda done it earlier!!

How about last sundays coffee run....after the rain up until the night before, and then this glorious winters day...and the rain was back that afternoon...we were blessed!
A few new cars this time, it just keeps growing..I really look forward to this each month, and may even get the mid week run happening soon...maybe Thursdays.
Even though we are a little away from the main eateries, at least there is the bakehouse to grab a coffee, but what I like is that we can fit about 100 or more cars here without inconveniencing any locals.
Hot rods and people just catching up..low key, just what I envisaged.
It is hard when other events clash, but this was still a good roll up, so see you on Aug 18th...when the winter westerly winds will be here....
Someone sent this old Duane Spencer pic....hot rodding 60 years ago....
Local rodder Wally Rudkin has been working on this C&W bodied hi-boy for a while, but he tells me that it should be done by Xmas.....detailed very nicely!

Dales Deuces......

Dales Deuces are all drivers, but award winners as well, this 3w just received a Goodguys Pick.
This is Dales first 5 window, he bought it in 1961 when he was 16..still has it 52 years later!
There's a 32 bug in the collection...look at the floor finish!
The closed cab A was the parts chaser until recently, now gone to make room for more 32s.
The B400 build up was covered on his blog.....actually, Dales blog inspired me to start the one you're reading!!
Sometimes, the doors are opened for a local cruise-in/bench session.
This 32 roadster has seen thousands of interstate miles roll by..another class piece.
Dale has taken this new R/Pickup to the LA Roadster Show last coupla years.
The Sedan Delivery also gets used for long distance driving
A Tudor highboy...just to fill the collection
And of course, there's a Victoria in the building as well.....

Dale Grau...living the dream!!

I first met Dale at a DEUCES LIMITED run in 2007...he came to the run held in Texas, all the way from Minnesotta....that's a long haul...over the years, we've kept in touch, and it amazes me of his dedication to hot rodding.....not only the collection of cars, but the miles travelled to events....every month it seems he's off somewhere, and usually one, two or more days drive to get there......Like the time he went to California...drove East to Ohio first so he meet up with a group that he could travel back the long way!! This pic above is of his Buick custom.
One of the current projects is this more door 32, just to add to his collection, which is extensive, coupes, tudors, pickups, roadsters, a Vicky and a B400, all registered and drivers!
Another recent find was this rodded 32 panel, a quick freshen-up is on the cards.
Not uncommon to have a few of his cars out on the lawn..looks like party central.
A new building was constructed last year, just to house the finished rods, all ready to go out......which one to choose, that must be tough!
Kept nice and cosy, even with the snowed in winters....it's a 32 lovers dream garage!
The interior of the new building has neat stuff everywhere, like this 1/2 32 frame setup converted to a table setting
Plenty of room to have a bench session here!
Even going to the loo is an experience.
He is clever!...how else would you mount your clock!!

Just to show where Darren is up to...

Darren bought the coupe in November last year, and the plan is to have it at Valla this year.....only 2 months to go now!
workmanship is always top of the class....wish I had the talent and patience he has...
Just look how nice and symmetrical the exhaust lays out....Beam axle, Chevy,  Dellow housing with a Ford Single rail 4 speed, to an 8" rear with full floaters
Now you can see why it needs floaters for the 8" max. offset Real Wheels , and that is the ride height, and the original paint is staying as is!! going to be awesome!
The body is super straight, 99% rust and dent free, what a perfect start.
Fabricated frame has a big rear kick, so the cherry body had to be trimmed to suit, but as seen above, the end result is HOW A HOT ROD SHOULD LOOK!!..in case you didn't know...hahahaa.....
shown this pic before, but just take note of the jig, makes building a project very easy.
And this is when I first bought it in Texas, awaiting trans-shipment to Australia.
