I'm backkkk!!...welcome to 2017.....

The discussion came up over Xmas, about how a lot of the Turbo race/street cars now have the turbo mounted behind the rear end, and it jogged my memory of the 1960s company called TURBONIQUE that had a variety of rocket propelled/assisted devices on all sorts of things...cars..boats..planes..and even go carts...I loaded the video previous about one of the cars that used this unique set-up..like the pic above of the famous "Drag Axle"
Capt Jack Mclure and his rocket cart..
famous photo did the rounds of him supposedly running against a dragster..info tells me that there was a problem that day, but they wanted the photo...so just put the cart out about 50 feet, and snap the pic as the dragster goes past...easy!
 would you pilot this??
reminds me of the last time I went to the Punjab Curry House...
1980 Jet HP for $199.50!..Dang, send me 1/2 dozen...
here's the drag axle workings...impressive if you turned up at the local cruise night....the original flame-throwers...

1st of my events for 2017..coffee morning #59 and perfect weather as usual...John Isaacs had his newly purchased A tub along for the event at Victoria Point
Mick Dillon does it again!.Bam..builds this great little 26 T in a track roadster style...a great little car built at home without breaking the bank..Mick continues to show his 60 years in hot rodding keeps you active, thinking, and young at heart..
31 pickup always looks great...the Samford Valley Rodders are always welcome..good morning out for them from the other side of town..
Next few shots shows the continual range of vehicles that turn up, a great mix of early and lates US, with aussie golden oldies as well
Doug took time out from doing my bathroom reno (thanks mate )..to lower the newly acquired HD ute...now all he needs is some 14" early Holden US Indys or something like that..
Leon Birss brought out the Toyota Hemi powered T coupe this time..another of our way early 60's hot rodding icon personalities
and...speaking of early 60s rodders..Evan Isaacs came in the 56....we might say that hot rodding is becoming an oldies interest...but aren't we glad we are all still doing it...getting old when you realise I've known Evan for over 50 years !!
Lets just say...." Red car parking area..".
How do you describe this blown 34..easy.."Sh!booom"!
 Nope..not just hot rods...early Holdens..Fords..Valiants all welcome...
Boy, the Mustangs are getting popular again...I heard of another two locally being built today
 coffee..cars..the bake house..and talking...makes for a relaxing Sunday morning..
two unchopped steel tudors, with a baby bird photo-bombing

gotta have 'em...may as well make them small!.
great car ..new cars to a run always draw a crowd, and this roadster had plenty of lookers
lots of time and patience, like hand building the windscreen frame...
Johns new ride also has new wheeels....his old wheels, and other bits and pieces from others, will be on a For Sale blog later this week!
Hot morning..sun was a killer, so shade was a blessing..
 last pics...some wheel combos..
that's it...next coffee morning is Feb 12...same weekend as the Moonshine Run...
someone mentioned this week about Wally Pushkeys old V8 drag bike...well here's the 1st version with the Y block Ford motor...early 1970s..

That's it...another blog a little later, now that the Xmas/New Year is behind us, I will get myself organised to do this more often...just remember...if you have anything that you think is worth including, send it by email to greg@comstar.com.au

  1. I love going to car shows. Not only do you see beautiful cars, but you meet the people who built those beautiful cars. It's easy for me to admire the workmanship of each and every one of the cars. Being the daddy's girl that I was, I watched my daddy cut, grind and weld sheets of metal together until he finished the car of his dreams.
