Nothing like a road trip in a fenderless, 455 Olds powered 1932 Ford...the 5 speed Tremec helped the economy, the dirt track tyres added to the excitement...
My first glimpse of the arch...we had to stop..
mammoth!...and it has an elevator to take you up to the viewing windows at the top.
stopped into Peculiar, Missouri for a look at the famous Pete n Jakes....and on a side note, Les and I went to Pete n Jakes in California 42 years prior, on one of Travelaires NSRA tours..
some see hot rods..others see iconic cars that shaped our industry, and the minds of future builders
something an aussie doesn't see too often...all the tyre...it'll be good when our government will accept the heritage of "hot rods don't need to have fenders"...
Many years ago, I remember reading about a yard in Junction City, Kansas, that had rows and rows of old cars available for sale.....lucky we spotted the sign, because of what we found...........
didn't seem like much to start..sure, there were a lot of 50s, 60s 70s cars close to the office area, but Jamin assured us he had plenty of early parts, just behind the tin fence...
and here is that treasure trove...T bodies, A models were scattered everywhere...anything later than this has long since gone..
for an aussie..hard to believe pieces like this still exist......however.......the price we checked were right up there...and not worth buying considering you can get new Brookville for not much more....
the yard has a great variety....but nature is starting to get the upper hand...this could have been a gold mine if managed and advertised correctly...
Yep..worth the stop, but unless you were there with a 40 container, a bunch of $$$, and be prepared to put some big days in removing and packing.....I somehow don't think it would be cost effective, so just let it all "rust in peace"..
wind turbines....they are everywhere..not hundreds...thousands! They cost about $3million each...ya gotta wonder how long it takes to make them pay there way...
and we hit Colorado...our first stop was to Pinkees Rod Shop...that's up next!
