moving on to the East
Left Knoxville for the touristy part of this area.....Pigeon Forge was like a mini-Vegas...all you ever need to see or do is there for you...we went to see what Dollyworld looks like, but can't see anything from the road.....two big peaks in the way...boom.boom..this place must be he tic when the hot rods are in town...Gatlinburg was neat..Smoky Mts. Were good, but road works slowed the drive...then on the road toward Chatannooga...saw what I think was the same classis car sales you went to, Chris Dansie....Destiny in Maryville...www.destinyusedcars.com had a great selection..pity so far away from anywhere....nice Customline Vicky was 21k.....nice stock 53 Cusso,18k....check out the web.
Next stop was or the tour at Coker Tyre...good selection of all types of cars n trucks...and a really good bike section. The engine collection was different..lots of flatheads..but also a Packard like they used in the WW2 PT boats......so on into the re-invented honest Charlie Speedshop...cool, but basically just a re-seller.........
So, outa there and hit the road...south thru Tennessee, across the top of Alabama and into Missssippi, and back up into Memphis, Tennessee....using as many back roads as I can........

First week in this trip
So...no pics until I get back..that is unless you are one of my friends on facebook, as the pics load there ok....Nashville wasa good little show, with maybe 2000 cars, and I,m sure about 1/3 of them were pickups!.....The swap meet was very small, as I only managed to spend about $300..not like me.....As you all know, the Goodguys allow a very broad range, and the quality was way up there, not the big influence of rat rods that usually appear. The trade displays were leaning toward pro-touring..handling..late models..injection..turbos, but that's expected.
So it was good (for me) when we got to Knoxville and found Genes Hotrod Parts..owner Charlie Burchett had a neat primered deuce coupe, and a tudor just sold, another deuce tudor body just sold, a brookville roadster project....and a ton of Model T and A parts and bodies.....we could have talked for hours about hot rods......but Pigeon Forge, Tennessee was calling, as the road trip had to go on.::::::::::::::::::more updates later...dinner is ready!

goodguys nashville
So..I still haven't figured how to load pics from this tablet to the site.....might just have to wait until we get back to Australia...anyway..great to see Dion get the Goodguys Real Hotrod award for his new rhd roadster...Nasville was great, although about 13 degrees early, creeping up to 20s both days...then by Monday , it has been regularly mid to high 20s...went to Knoxville to see Genes Hotrod Shop....then the touristy bits of Great Smoky Mts....and today I stopped by "Honest Charlies/ Coker Tyres"....now moved on to Memphis.

coffee....on a cold cold start to winter..brrrrr
OK...so I forgot my camera....but I can be excused.....the weather took me by surprise.....after the rain of Friday...as usual, another perfect day for coffee !!
Last catch up for some of us before we head for USA...funny to think that in three and a bit weeks time, we will be under a 34 pickup in Texas fitting a dropped axle!
So...next months run before I forget...it will be held at Debbie and Gary Moores property, just back up the road a bit from Victoria Point shops...the address is 34 Worthing Rd, Victoria Point...you get to it from Springacre/Kingfisher Road.
Start time as usual at 7am....coffee van on site...Cassie Pesch tells me there will be a sausage sizzle/food available, with gold coin donation that they will be donating to charity. This will be on Sunday, 22nd June.

Only pic I took of some cars..not a big roll - up, but it clashed with Bango swap meet, and fishnet and fuel or whatever it's called up at Tamborine...still, 20 or so is ok.
Maccas bakery even got some business from us, with the arctic friggin' breeze that confronted us today.....but nice in the sun anyway...........So...next months run before I forget...it will be held at Debbie and Gary Moores property, just back up the road a bit from Victoria Point shops...the address is 34 Worthing Rd, Victoria Point...you get to it from Springacre/Kingfisher Road.
