Rest In Peace, Darryl Kuhnemann...

Sad day for the local rodding community today, with the passing of well known rodder, Darryl Kuhnemann...Condolences to Dianne, Zac and Nicky, and all his extended family...
Darryl was there in the early days..way back in the late 60s in Toowoomba, he got the bug to build hot rods..
early 1970s..he had this A bucket on the road..

then went on to build many more hot rods for himself, and the wider hot rod community..from memory, he built about 10 for himself in his 50 years of rodding, but also, another 80 or so partial or full builds for customers....he made his mark in S.E. Qld hot rodding..
I had first met Darryl around 1970, so when I got back into rods, he was there to help me build them..first of two roadsters..

 then two sedans..
Most will remember his coupe, the 3 window went to many local and national events..
 likewise his roadster...
loved nothing more than a hot rod road trip...
or travelling to USA with his good friends..
or just hanging out at local runs
...................................Darryl, you were are great friend,  we will all miss you'................................

....................................FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS..................................
Darryl's funeral will be held next Saturday, 1st July from 12 noon at Gregson and Weight Chapel, Wises Road, Buderim. The service will go for an hour, then tea and bikkies from 1pm to 2pm. From here, Darryl will begin his last cruise....

It was the wish of Darryl and his family that as many rods, customs and classics accompany him on his last cruise. This will leave Gregson and Weight Buderim and travel to Ackerman Road, Kulangoor, to the Lawn Cemetery. An A.S.R.F.  sanction is in place for concessional registered cars.

In this time of sadness, it is comforting to know that the rodding community can come together to recognise Darryls life.....

Thursday night..10pm...time to blog again..

Graham Poulsen sent some pics of parts he has for sale..contact is 0438 087 033...
This  fender is a 33/34 pickup, and is $350..
one only LH 32 running board, $100
a pair of 32 Ford running boards, $300
this 32 Ford RH fender, $325..
and this 32 RH fender is $375....
as you know from the last blogs, Les is making his way back to Dale Graus home state of Minnesotta , where they will go to the huge "Back to the 50s" event...but first...gotta get the road trip done...think Dale said at this point in the trip, he had clocked 3200 miles since leaving home a week ago..
Les tells me they stopped for Gas, conveniently at exit 132....
then Les tells me, Dale orders his meal..gets ticket #32..the Deuce Gods are with them on this trip...
but then..like all good road trips..you do the miles and the cars sometimes break..bad coil wire....
carb and fuel pump rebuild...just get it done and keep on travelling...
well..another breakdown..I saw this on facebook and phoned Les..he said they were zooing along and just like that, the engine shut down..30 miles out of Des Moine...called AAA
AAA turned up with a hook, instead of a rollback (or tilt-tray for us Aussies)..but it got the roadster pickup into the town..I spoke to Dale and it didn't worry him..probably an ignition gremlin he thought...he posted later on f'book that at 2a.m., he had the 32 fired up again..put in a new module, cap etc., bit of shut eye , and as I type this, it's about 7am USA time, so they must be on their way up Interstate 80........Les tells me that Dales 32 has seat heaters, and they had them turned on going thru Colorada, it was so cold...life without a roof, I guess!!
Yesterday, some of us took the trip to Coomera to meet up with Dennis Cambells lunch run...
Good day..good food..good company..think there was about a dozen cars....
talk..talk..talk..we do that well!
Here's you first reminder for the ROd Squads annual Saturday run..mark the info down..
The End....
