HOT ROD drag week..my roving reporter checks in...

so..some of you know about drag week..it's a 5 day, multi drag strip race whilst driving the 1000 miles towing a trailer to each event..a trest of endurance, engine build skills, and to most, a week of fun with over 400 competitors from all over the world...this Javelin runs in the low 6 second range..
This pseudo street car even has cup holders and cell phone plugs to add to the (boring) drive between tracks...look at that..pure race car, street driven..
sure do love his racing # though....
Tom Bailey, another 6 second car..but I believe he's out already..
"Jeep...you bought a Jeep" to the race track....Rod Sendall came to mind..(Rod drag-raced a Gurney Weslake Jeep in Australia in the late 70s)..
Les found the token deuce to photograph..
Here's the team Les is travelling with..Ross Gault from Brisbane..note the trailer he has to all..(everyone has to tow a trailer between tracks..)..This U-Haul was too big for the regs, so they had to put empty boxes inside to fill some space..rules state that you must carry all your tools, spares, etc with you in the trailer..
 I'm liking this one...
would you be game to drive 1000 mile in a 6 second doorslammer...
this has a 454 cube small block for power..
 Umm..where's your radiator..
Les's friend Tommy with his old school 57 Chev
 55 Chev gassers..love 'em..
Jeff Lutz has run in the low 6s..think it went into the 5 second zone once...
all types of cars turn up..
 from radical hot rods..
to sedate sort of looking Falcon wagons..
gotta be a triler hitch there somewhere...
Lots from overseas...this Vette is from Denmark..
One of the 5 aussie teams..this Chevelle has some fancy plumping to those turbos...see more of this race with specific videos and on live streaming, via Street Machine Magazine, find it on the web, or more posts in the facebook sites
Ross has the 570 cube Reher Morrison, turbo 400, 3.7 diff geared Camaro...other aussies are the Chevelle, the Valiant Charger from WA, Torana hatchback, and the Trapnell Monaro
 Ross and his Brisbane crew..
and that's what it takes to power a six second street car..
Ross at the first stop..Hebron, OHIO
 nice LS powered Buick wagon
another European import for the week..twin turbo'd hot rod
early morning...I believe they all make a pass down the strip, then hitch up and head for the next strip at Norwalk..can you imagine the freight train of 400 cars and trailers clogging the backroads....sure sounds like fun!
