Here's a bracket in progress that I made to hold the hairpins to the frame.
I always knew I would have to modify the x member for tailshaft clearance..but needed to bolt the coil overs in first and "try" to duplicate the ride height....so with my truty cardboard t-shaft...hello...no room!....but I have started to add the rear of the "X" in these shots.
tied in to rear 4 bar mount..will box the top later, and (probably) gusset the sides as well.
cut out a booster mount plate..added a few holes to it just in case they are needed later...too hard to get to later!
Hairpins are on!
brake pedal mount goes right thru the frame for added strength
fabricated a dropped weld on section for tailshaft clearance.
couple of plates on the front for the shocks
Booster plate and 1st design of my gearbox mount..not sure if this will stay though..
Put one gusset on the brake mount..might put one either vertical or at the rear yet..not sure.
rear seems fine....added a few holes with crush tubes in case the coil-over shocks need to stand up a bit
Anyway...have a great Australia Day!
Tribute time...26 years since Anita and Dawn quit Drag Racing..a 20 year career saw them take over 60 trophies each...culminated in this all girl blown Wild Bunch Datsun we built for them....Congrats, Gals!
Also..18 years this month since I broke tha last Donovan block.....parked the race car for a while to think it through......
Then a month later...hung up the race suit for good!
Just a wee bit excited about a decision I made last week......
And this........
And this...
but mainly this!...can't wait...
