so...first post for 2015....and it's my trip to Straddie!!

So..hope everyones Xmas and New Years break was good...we had xmas at home, then left for a week at Point Lookout, where we had rented a house for the week....($2000....they don't miss you at holiday time!).......
Never thought about the logistics of Stradbroke Ferries at Xmas time....ferry takes approx. 50 vehicles....at a cost of around $100+ each...so that's $5000..but they have 5 ferries, so $25000, and each trip takes roughly an hour, so they do about 24 trips a day, over and back...so $600,000 a day is my guess....then there's the walk-ons.......
It was great having our family together in the house..we did the beaches every day...here's Danny, Anita and Chris.....my family..love 'em...
Me...trying to relive the days when I would spend hours in the surf...these days, I try to avoid the rough n tumble....to hard on this tired body..lol
We couldn't resist this pic...Chris and Emma were married here 4 1/2 years ago.
Danny chillin' with Ryan...it was a very relaxing 7 days...gone in an instant!
I did the gorge walk finally...always avoided it for some reason...nice day for it..
Straddie has all the awesome swim spots..more further on..
Nice boaldwalk the the council put in...but still lotza steps to cover....
My poor old knees knew it by the time I finished...
Would loved to have tried this swim spot, but too hard to get down there...the surge of the waves carried these swimmers up and back in about a metre of water..
New Zealand is out there somewhere....about 3 hours flight away....haha..
 Big Manta-Ray enjoying the swell..
so that's Point Lookout...next stop from this view....USA is that-away...
our closest beach was Cylinder....huge expanse of sand catered for the tourists, but it was never crowded when we went there in the afternoons...
nice little gutter away from the flags was the place t go to take the grandkids..nice gentle waves to get them used to the surf...so...that's it...next blog...cars......,.don't forget, it's the first of my 2015 coffee mornings next Sunday the 11th...
