Valentines day......love is in the air!!

Yeeeeaah!....wiring time..Glenn came around and got right into sorting this maze out.........think this is always a time when you realise that it's getting close....yeah, I know some people can build a hot rod in 6 weeks....but I just like plodding along at my own relaxed pace,............ but I must admit.....it would have been good to have it done for the Nats.

Remember the little panel I made to catch the water from the boot area.....well, it has to go somewhere, so a funnel is glued in , with a pipe extending down thru the bottom of the floor, and, "Hello...water drains away".......have some neat little licence plate lights to hold the plate on, thanks to my son Danny....the black leds will go well with the flat black paint.

We decided to locate the battery on the floor, behind the seat, mounted to the rhs you can see, rather than in the boot. Access is available from the flip forward seat I made. Battery cutoff is on the left behind the seat, so all good there.....anyway, the diagonal rhs has wood panels mounted on either side to clean it up, and there is a plate welded as shown for all the "earths" to be  attached

My little unboltable under dash panel holds the dipper switch, headlite switch, ignition switch, and indicator toggle, and just above this, facing the driver is a push button starter switch as well.

The little under dash gauge panel is just visible from the drivers seat, so the three holes at the bottom will have glue in green indicator lights, and a high beam light in the centre. The switch at the top is for speedo calibration, and the toggle on the side is for the wipers. Glenn has done 50% of the wiring now, and most likely will be finished early next week...maybe time to pull down and start painting...yippee!

For some reason, I have a fetish with wheels ...maybe I just want different looks , but I have enough wheels here now to start a tyre shop! Think I will fit the newly aquired tyres in the front of this foto, to the Halibrands for the roadster, as they are about 1/2" taller, should look better, but I still can't make up my mind about the cream steelies...I'm into them now for about $1100 and not sure when or where I will use them....anyone need a set of these?.....new Nankang tyres, 15 x 7 and 15 x 5...,they come with new  41 Ford caps.

Feb 7, 2nd blog of the day.

Late January caused problems all over the place..we did fairly well, only 4 trips of tree branches to the tip.....it killed the computer somehow, and wrecked the phone line, so not much contact for a week or so, hoever, i did upgrade to ADSL2 when the deal was fixed, and it looks like the dowloading to this blog is heaps faster, as well as not much "buffering" when watching youtube etc.

Went to Toowomba Swap, and it was packed!..think it was better doing the Sat/Suin deal like previous years. Went around to the Snapes to check on the deuce buildups there. Norms sedan has its paint on the frame, just needs a body!

Shanes rebuilt coupe is now a highboy, and doesn't it look tough! Should be back on the road in no time.

Norm had the body made at Rod Bods in Nabiac....Hope to see it finished later on this year. It will be a highboy, and just front seats, with a cover over the rear seat area.

The E.T wheels and huge tyres look great, Shane!

Don't forget, Easter Street Rod Nats are next month!!, just 50 days away now!

.,..it's February already!!....time for a non 32 blog...

As you know, my January got screwed up between visitors, and the rain event that killed my computer...anyway, back again to annoy you...here's the missing pic from visiting Maleny, this all steel 34 was first sold in N.Z., and brought to Aus when Graham Robinson made the swith many years ago......He has the neatest collection of models/diecast/signs/books etc.

Another stop was to see how Dave Fairbrother was going with all his projects..his Mercury coupe is coming together well!

Dave is also well into the restoration of this 1920s belgiun built rocket....my bad memory, and I've forgotten what it is...."Metallurgic" or something like that....Dave has been experimenting with nickel plating....and it looks good!

Another stocker just waiting to be rebuilt.........I'd be starting here first!!  haha.

Pride of the fleet will be this 1930s Rolls Royce. It's all there, but needs a major resto that will take years and gobble up a bit of money..(apparently, the moment you mention R.R., the prices for parts or labour  jump enormously!)

Next stop in my non 32 blog is a visit to Chris Dansie to check progress on his imported 'glass 33 five window. All the hard work is done, sort of, so expect to see it later this year.

Lots of innovative bits here, like the dash mounted shifter, under dash pull style handbrake, hanging pedals, all to make it a lot tidier inside. Now, there's your fix, Doug, of non deuce doins, so back to them next blog.

Test..test..I think the blog is fixed again!!

This was the test photo...seems the blog works again, relatively simple to use, and in my case, that's important!!

I have made the small panel below the alloy parcel tray, that holds the two spare gauges, and this will also be wired with the indicator lights, and maybe  ign. light, hi beam etc. The fuse box is hinged behind the column drop, so I can access it when needed, but hidden normally.


From the other side, with the panel shut, just a simple clip holds it in place'

This panel bolts to the column support, and will hold the ignition and headlight switches, as well as a couple of other switches...all these mount on the horizontal plate just seen in the photo...maybe a couple of really small diode lights will face forward ..... so almost all switches will be hidden from view.

Windscreen is done, and all the wiring is waiting to go in next week, probably. Below is the shot of the seat frame, i hinged the back so it can fold to get access to the battery, and the base is fairly deep, so the driving position should be reasonably low!

Still not fixed, but at least I can "blog"!

First coffee morning for 2013 was down at Redland Bay, This was the best roll-up yet, about 35 guys, and quite a few new cars. As you can see, the weather was perfect, With the dates beibg set for the rest of the year, it will only get bigger! Dates are F 17, M17, A21, M19, J16, J21, A18, S8, O13, N3, and D8.

Good range of 50s and 60s cars, as well as the regular hot rods.

Also in January, I took friends up to Maleny, so called by to check progress on Graham Robinsons fleet of hot rods...this deuce is a stunner!

The work in progress Brookville 3 window is coming together, but first, there is a 32 Vicky to finish for the Easter Nats.....below is an updated photo of darrens A coupe, with the "real Wheels" mocked in place..lots of work has been done on the frame, and the easter deadline for this will be tight!Vicky to finish for the nationals

Houston, we have a problem!!

Still having problems with the picture loading, and it gets out of sinc...so at least there is a little bit to see here.....first, the fenders are now on, also just fitted the top wood tack strip, then you see the Halibrands I put on the sedan..(have them on both cars now)...I sent the wheels away for drilling as they were blank, and forgot to send a wheel nut....they were drilled for taper nuts rather than the old mag style.....so....I wanted to adapt my knockoffs, and didn't want to drill the wheels to hold the adapters, so came up with the idea to use the bullet style lugs, that fit thru the knockoff adapter, then I drilled and tapped the lugs, and are in the process of inventing a clamp that holds the knockoffs up against the wheel....how about that...now the wheels are'nt really ruined after all!!



Looks like there is still a problem in the loading of images....google has a different way to do this, but oh so slow.....so I might just wait until the repair comes thru...in the meantime, not only am I on occasional grandad duties, we also have a houseful of visitors, so not much time anyway, and no work on the 32 for a week or two...pity, as there is only 80 days to go to the Street Rod Nats....I was hoping to have the roadster done for then....anyway...it will happen..one day......keep checking back until I figure this deal out....

2013 is here and we have a problem...there is a glitch in the photo upload section, so I have sort of found a way around it, but not as quick and user friendly as before...so hold the phone.......lets wait a bit.... In the break, I updated my calender of all the coffee runs, swap meets, car shows etc...doesn't take long to fill it up!!....also, trying to plan another overseas trip for this year or next...gotta do these things while your health is reasonable.

I did manage to get a bit of work done on the roadster over xmas...the fenders are done, and now I'm starting back on the interior...more photos to post, as soon as this problem is fixed!! the Xmas season is a distant memory, as we gear up for the new year!...I'm waiting on a reply from "google blogger", as for some reason, my photos aren't loading...so patience please.....all will be revealed later...
