Wallys service this Saturday.@ 12pm.

Wally Rudkens funeral arrangements will be held this coming Saturday, 30th July,at 12.00pm., at The Great Southern Memorial Park, 1774-1794 Mount Cotton Road, Carbrook,
(opposite the Driver Traing Centre)..

Wally had hoped that many of his friends could attend in their hot rods.

Wally was a gentleman, and will be missed in our community....R.I.P., Wally

Condolences to wife Barbara, and all his extended family and friends..

"Top 032"...he was a "Top person"..........

We lost a good man today, R.I.P., Wally Rudken

Sad day, our friend, Wally Rudken passed away after battling some health issues..here's Wally in his Deuces Limited cap, swapping stories with Ronnie, Mick, and Dave., He loved coming to the coffee mornings and chatting with mates...
Wally, and good friend, Dave Fairbrother came onto the hot rod scene in the mid 1970s, Wal joined Rods Incorporated in July 1976, and with wife Barbara, went to most of the runs and events that were organised. With skills in pattern making, and Draughmanship, Wally got involved right from the start of the Queensland T.A.C., by drawing up plans, as well as using his knowledge of mechanical safety, to ensure the new street rod guidelines ,to be submitted to Queensland transport were to the benefit of all hot-rodders. His work helped us get where we are today.

Wally and Barbara also devoted time, not only to Rods Inc., but also to the Queensland Hot Rod Promotions, by being the Secretary of the committee, and Barbara assisting him.
After a many year break from rodding, Wal was back with this really neat deuce roadster..he joined the new "Deuces Limited" club, and started racking up the miles going to as many events as he could fit in...his workmanship showed through the entire build, and "TOP 032" was a fitting plate for this home built, owner painted, jet black 32hiboy.
The Captain, Dave Fairbrother on the left, here with Wally on the right..., down at one of the regular coffee mornings.....best friends for 40+ years..they went everywhere in their cars,..lots of good times together..
..Our condolences are extended to Barbara, all his extended family, and his close friends,

Ever the gentleman, he will be missed by his family, and friends from hot rodding..RIP Wally.

cant remember if I posted these...so here they are again..

another steel five window recently changed hands, and is in the build ..can't get enough of these.
 here's another pic from the net...love my 5w 32s...
here's one for sale, ready for the finishing touches..
wish this was in my garage......
stop it!....I want one...but can't afford to add another to my fleet..wonder if I can swap my deuce tub for one...nah!..just need to win the Lotto....
how much fun would this day have been..
and speaking of fun...the formerly reliable tudor, now in the naughty corner of the workshop, while some "issues" are dealt with...and instead of fixing it, I'm writing this blog for you!!..yes, YOU!
and this is why i never get time in retirement...had to change out the single plane Offy intake for a dual plane Edelbrock on my sons hardtop...lots more bottom end grunt now, thanks to the fine tuning by brother-in-law Col....appreciate his help....(and stop gawking at the under shoulder boulder holders on the clothes line.)...
and, got his advise on my problem...we think that the heat is killing the pump/fuel lines, it was so hot in traffic last Thursday, that you could not put your hands on the hood sides..mechanical fan might get changed for an electric, but some header wrap first...
This event is coming up locally soon..should be big!
I've been pestering Glenn about posting more pics of his 34 5w build, but this is as close as he will let me....anyway, just have to wait to see this flattie powered all steel car ..later this year, maybe.
Dropped in to Steve Coades...he has been moving a lot of coupes lately..here's one that is still available..phone him on his cool mobile #..041 283 1956
here's another that is arriving in the next week or two...he says, "the best yet"..
Most of you know, that OzRods is clearing out of their hot rod products, as the business stays more to the build-up of cars...
there are some bargains to be had here, but just be patient, as they have no sales staff full time on the sales side.....
but, the products are there...allsitting on the shelves, awaiting sorting and selling...
 Vintique/Speedway Motors/Drake/and many more..
I saw at least 3 of these Walker 33/34 Ford radiators....
 here's a deuce, just because...
this one's for you, Shane Snape
coming up to 40 years ago, when about 65 of us got onto the PanAm jumbo, and headed to Tulsa in August '76.....
 I still have my shirt....
Here's Col, Me, and Anita standing in front of the tour bus in SanFran...
look at us...40 years ago...and we were on our honeymoon....with 65 hot rodders...crikey!!
the gang at Tulsa , under the giant oilman statue..
another group shot, in front of the aussie tub..did Bowman take that over there?
still got the entry ticket...ah..memories, of the start of my many trips to USA
Thanks, USA, for creating the vehicles, for the "Car culture" that exists, that keeps us old boys young...

DONT FORGET TO CLICK ON THE PHOTOS< SOME< NOT ALL< ARE IN A FORMAT THAT WILL ENLARGE..

It's Winter here...and Winters there, in Summer there......shucks..you know what I mean..

'Lonestar Les" is livin' the dream, spending his retirement days and nights doing what most Aussie hot rodders want to do...spend time in USA....I think I've convinced him to by my on the spot reporter, picture taker, story teller, to help fill this blog..here's a few randow things he wants to share with us...
He's staying just outside Fort Worth at Charlie Durans home, and one thing Charlie has always mentioned, was his desire to convert his 3W back to a working cowl vent...and has been working on Les to tackle the job....so..Brookville replacement panels have been ordered....

Neat story on this 3W...it raced back in the 50s, campaigned by Huddlestone and Fake....Charlie tracked down and found Mr Huddelstone a few years ago, just before he passed, he took the 3W up to show him...over 50 years later ..same car...imagine the memories it must have jogged..
Being a Deuce guy, Les HAD to send me a report as to the temperature in Weatherford, Texas!!!
Some more pics from the drags, up in Oklahoma..
This is Bubbas...Les rode up to the meet with Tim and Chris...Tim runs Bubbas Tow, in Fort Worth and surrounds, our go to tilt tray guy used by lots of visiting aussies!
Leslie!...what were you thinking....step away from the car...now!
No point to a car /truck like this EVER, IMHO...
Up to Boo-Rays with Charlie for a cruise night and food...
100F on the way across town to Canton...the 1 1/2 trip meant improvising with a stick, to hold the vent open...never got time to fix the small jobs, just get in and drive!!!
The big cube twin four, muncie drivetrain is so old school cool....and good on gas mileage!
Yeah, yeah, we know you need water....but 32 bottles?....you did this for Doug and Chris, didn't you..
Here's the 3Ws time card from way back in the 50s..how cool/rare is that!..I must go looking thru my old books to see if there is a story on it..108mph..not bad!
and so the work begins...dig out some bondo, some brazing, and hello!  a hole exists!..
That's all from our ace reporter on the ground in Texas....more updates in future blogs....
