Last of my events for the year...mid week run to Sandstone Point.

So...we headed off to the North side of Brisbane for my last of the year mid-week rod runs...
first stop is always at the BP at caboolture, but no sitting inside for coffee...the interior was gutted by fire recently...so we just made use of their huge carparking area
always surprises me how many more cars/people come along when i'ts a Nth destination.....must be more retirees this side of the river?
nothing like catching up under a shade tree..
here, some old Roadstars members were surprised, when former Roadstars member, and San Diego resident John Cowling flew over for my run....haha..just kiddin' he is here for family catch-ups over Xmas, and brought wife Barbara, and his three grandkids over.."Welcome back".
We made the short 30 minute drive towards Bribie Island, and just before the bridge, turned into the huge carpark of the equally huge new Sandstone Point Hotel...it's a must go destination!
Lots of old drag racers now hot rodders...this is graham Easons Plymouth
Nice pair of later model Fords parked way too close to me...lol
as you can see...the old sedan lives again...new Transmission, rebuilt 3.4 centre...back to running up the miles...even gave it a wheel change for the next few events...Halibrands are back on the rack!
Gleen Watts had his super bright Orange A coupe out today, giving his roadster and his convertible the day off....
Lot of Mustangs starting to join our runs..
yet another old drag racer now into hot rods..Larry Bazarniks 34 Ford

Allan Tronc had his way cool pickup there today..love it!

Who wouldn't want something like this in their shed..

Darryl Poulsen, Brian Leembruggen, and Allan Gray..
Allan Gray..Brian Lageroth...both former drag racers, now happy to have classic cars

Gary Wright...former Roadstars president from back in the 60s..
Doug Mole had his (for sale) 57 hardtop..Dougs brush with dragracing, was he onced crewed on Jeff Burnetts funny car in the 70s
Lynn Gorrie has just purchased this Poncho convert..he used to crew on Wally Pushkeys V8 drag bike in the old Surfers Paradise days..
we took over most of the boatshed/fisn n chip shop, right down on the waterfront.

was an ideal spot by the water, and top weather, even though the prediction was for thunderstorms
Kyran n Sue Oloan chat with Graham Cowan,,,thanks to Graham, he picked the venue for the day....it was great..
The Boathouse.."Oyster Bay Fisn n Chip" shop, also part of the pub, and had beer n wine, so we were set for a great lunch get-together.
Look at the size of the land they have for events....have to come back again sometime in 2016
Lots of catchups..that's what our runs are all about..

some old Roadstars members..l-r..Gary Wright, Grant Cox, John Cowling, Joe Pring, and forgive me..I forget who is next..

Shortest distance in a hot rod goes to Affordable Hot Rods Kevin McDermott...came all of 5 minutes from Ningi

  1. I just stopped by Old Towne in Orlando Florida, and they have a car hop every single Saturday night. I saw about a dozen of these cars, each looking better than the next. The cool thing is they have bands playing 50s music, girls on roller skates, and burgers and fries for a nickel. I love these cars and the years they represent.
